back on the topic of TI Armageddon, do you think the US school systems will ever remove graphing calculators from necessary school materials? I mean, at some point in the future, it seems likely that public schools might have enough computers for everyone, or there are lots of people who just carry a laptop to hs. Then you don't need graphing calcs to graph or do math. Everyone can have a copy of mathamatica or maple.
then people will just be programming in computer languages
duno if anybody mentioned this yet. It just popped in my mind.

My hunches say no. They used to ask the same question about slide rules long before calculators. Could they be replaced by PDAs or even laptops? Possibly, but not this decade.
My diet consists of nails, code-stealers, and HP fans.

I did. And I think it's quite likely to happen. Hell, the average cellphone has more calculating power than a Ti-83+...calcul831415 wrote:duno if anybody mentioned this yet. It just popped in my mind.
On a side note, my current math teacher is one of the three developers of Maple

My math teacher can do better magic tricks than your math teacher.

Touché. But before all this gets out of hand--did anybody get a chance to check out the Jimmy Mardell interview on ticalc. 'Had some interesting comments on his memories of the TI community.

I can see what he means, I am always attracted to hobbies that are more underground and the inclusion of built-asm running does make this less underground. I also think that the fact that there is a new breed of dumb z80 programmers (like me) that are going to end up ruing asm the way n00bs ruined basic.
