Polis
ive decided that all the rest of my horrible games are crap so i've come up with a new idea...
Ancient Greek Warfare
okay I'm doin this in BASIC and i might need some help so any help would be good
you can select a "polis" (a tribe/city-state). You start the game in training. as you move up in the ranks at the barracks/training grounds you can up your stats (attack, defense, intelligence, accuracy, and leadership) in mock fights and battles you can gain exp. then once you graduate from training then you fight actual battles. In between battles you can go from polis to polis (as long as they're your allies) and buy new weapons and armor. The game ends either when you die or if your polis is the most powerful.
Each polis has a special ability. currently i've thought up: intel. for Athens, attack for Sparta, defense for Macedonia, and accuracy for Thebes more ideas will come later
things I currently need help with: Battle engine, map-tiles, and collision detection

@merth:yeah the weapons will be true to history but you might not appreciate the full beauty of the weapon unless you see it in the shop.(in the battle mode you dont see very much of the weapon.)
I finally settled on a style for the battle engine--individual style.
you and your 3 "buddies"(more on this later) enter into battle with swords drawn. you go mano e mano with the enemy's front line. the other styles were Tactical and turn based.
and does anybody know how to get more than the standard 27 variables and more than the 10 pics??

OK here is how to use lists:
( "->" is the store symbol)
Storing multiple things in a listcan be done be using
{1,2,3,4,5}->L1
To get a certian element in a lish say we want the third number we would say
L1(3)
To store to a certian element you would do
1->L1(1)
I think thats all you need to no but there is most of the list functions in the list munu on the calc and the manual might be better in explaining the others becuse I dont have the time to
But that is probably all you need to know to make a game using lists

Ok i've got Xlib on my calc and i'm tryin to make a map for the battles
the battles are going to be started when you swing your sword at the enemy. in the battles you control 1 of 4 characters. you can switch chars to keep your players from dying.
I'm tryin to think up what the characters should look like
if you have any ideas for an 8x8 sprite just post them here
(these new smileys are driving me to the point of almost giving in to grayscale )
