What about swarm projects with calcs? There are quite a few of them in schools, all one has to do is build a few mobile bases with builtin wireless communication and let things run

Actually, it would be pretty nice to have a toaster, which toasts the bread so that it isn't burned by monitoring the color of the toast all the time. Hmm... perfect toats

Then you can play with your calculator and some hardware and truthfully claim that you are working

And a swarm would be really cool... Bit difficult to make though... You'd need more than a wireless network to keep the bitches from bumping into each other :p

Maybe I can graduate in calculator swarms in a few years :)8)

Just a few proximity sensors on each robot base and letting the robots share their information on how to use the sensors and all should be set

Add some recharging stations and let the robots figure out what they are good for, that should get pretty interesting.

EDIT: Not to let tr1p down: I have hardly any experience at all in electronics and that's pretty tech related

My dad repairs TVs and all kinds of stuff so maybe I'm a little put off because of that? Free batteries is always good though...

No, it really has nothing to do with TI calculators, though I program for them as well. It was in the US (hence the $ prize) at the University of Illinois, which has a fairly large Asian student population.

A little off topic, but Saturday was a Robotics competition @ WPI called Savage Soccer, a mini version of FIRST Robotics competitions. Robots are cool, but programming the hardware that came with the kits looked tough. At least the VEX robot kits came with EZ-C
