Ah, nice to have you come back from teh skeptic side, Halifax. :P :)

Anyway, some things that can be worked on in ASM are the Displayed Stats Screen, the Shops, the NPC conversations, the Quest Roster (which is just a giant list of all the quests you can do and how much EXP and/or Gold you get from each.) and the Spellbook.

BTW we will need to make a Variable/Name/Routine Board Roster in the topic so people know which variables/names/routines they can or can't use.

If we run out of space for the variable we can always make a Variable LIST that will store all the values we aren't using at the time. And when we do need them we can pull it from the list and store it in the corresponding variable.

If anyone knows a way to make huge lists from ROM and edit them from ROM then that would be greatly appreciated.

Updates as we go. Thanks to all who support this project. If this forum wasn't on the map before, this will surely get it on. (cough cough Display web address when the player quits cough)

@tr1p1ea, wherever you are, help on this would be greatly appreciated. Same thing goes for kv83. Thank you.

So what is going to be the theme of the game? Is it going to be post-apocalyptic like Fallout? Near Future like The Massacre? Modern? Medieval? Fantasy? From "spellbook", I assume it is going to be fantasy.

Second question: What will the storyline be? Is it going to be the cliche fantasy storyline in which a group of people go to defeat evil? Is it going to be evil (you and your group) fighting the good for domination? Is it going to be a war in which two (or more) factions battle for power?

It's going to be Future-Past. It's the future but people have reverted to the ways of old. Magic, Merlin, that kind of stuff.

The story is about an event that devestated the Earth in the past. As such the Earth people have decided that the olden ways were much safer than the evolution. So, they abandon the evolutionary process and revert to magical times.

A man forms a group called 'The Regime of St. Christopher', working the government in their own ways and justifying the actions with kindness to the people and populace.

A few years later, the main character who is rebellious to the government (an anarchist) happens upon a legend: 'The Tale of the Construct'.

In this book, the main character finds out about a room that holds the power to change the world as the wielder sees fit. So, he and his friend get together to venture into the Deep (the dungeon) to find the Construct. And with the Construct, hope.

So it is kind of like a Planescape: Torment setting? Hi-Tech Machines/AI's and Magic living side by side, but no guns, futuristic/modern weapons, internet, etc. Hmmm...

Omnipotens Molior might be a good name for the game, as it means "Almighty Construct" in Latin.
Main character's name will be Spero Insurge (yeah it's weird, but it makes sense if you have a Latin-English dictionary).
The main character's partner's name will be Fidel Decus (again, don't ask).
Teh Evil's name is the Vox Empire/Republic/Federation/Kingdom.
The Ruler's name (if there is a Ruler) is Emperor/King/Consul/Dictator Pravus.
The team's name is the Torduos (individually, they are a Torduo).
The town's name is Arch.
Opinions on the names?

Sorry for the triple post but I'm not letting this die off.
I have created the engine and I am now waiting for ASM sub-routines.

Mods, take the email out of the post or encrypt it so bots cannot read it.

To answer your question, just do a couple of google searches and you'll find tons of tutorials waiting for you.

Done.

Hey Kalo, welcome to the boards. You should be able to find the info you are after in the 'Programming Help' sub-forum. More specifically, this thread:

Only about 50% of that post makes any sense to me, but I'm glad to see some determination to get back into the game. :D

just a few questions about this one...
greyscale or black and white?
side scrolling or 3d?
application or asm program?
use a shell like mirage, ion, or pure asm code... use b_calls or no?
focus on fast or space?
and any other essential questions i left out.

Black and white.
Neither. 2D 4-way.
APP.
N/A. It's an APP.
Fast. Space cannot apply. It's an APP.

Eh. IDK.
