Elementz 0.33a

Post by ProphetsDementia »

My newest game (which will actually be finished this time) is called Elementz.

Made in Hybrid BASIC (of course), the game revolves around a tournament called the Inversion. Each player is given a Manifold which is a glove that can harness and manipulate the elements of fire, water, wind, and earth. This glove can be upgraded by buying new Crystal Harnesses for it, but that's the LEGAL way to do it.

When you defeat someone in the Inversion, you have the ability to 'leech' the energy of their Manifold, making the victim incapable of fighting. It also eliminates all other chances of them fighting in the Lower Brackets (fighting for 2nd place, 3rd place, and so on). This, of course, is ILLEGAL and will drop one's Prestige which, if it gets low enough, inhibits you from wearing Celestial Clothing (equipments that are rare and have fame as a requirement).

Prestige is your character's Fame which can allow you to do many things when in the positive numbers (befriend people, make opponents more likely to offer a tie, wear Celestial Clothing, etc.).

All in all, it sounds promising but I may need help with this one. It's gonna be big (APP-compilation, LOCKING source code, the whole 9 yards).

Sounds cool, haven't heard from you in a while so it's good to see something new
What sort of help do you need exactly?
Do you want the BASIC progs compiled into an app?
(I could do that probably.. that's easy enough even for me ;) )

Hmmm, this seems a pretty nice idea. I have a few questions, however:
  1. Will this be an actual RPG or just an arena-styled game?
  2. Are there any differences between the Manifolds?
  3. Are you planning to have multiplayer?
  4. Will there be any items that require NEGATIVE prestige?
  5. Other than not being able to use special items and harder for the enemy to accept a tie, are there any significant effects of low prestige?
  6. When will we see screenshots?
  7. When will we get to try a bugtesting demo?

Sounds awesome, though this will probably have to be an arena game.
And I was going to ask question 4.

Nice to hear familiars!

@King Harold: Yes, I will need you to compile them. Regarding help, I need field testers and debuggers. (My coding isn't the work of Jesus, you know.)

@Delnar:

1) This will be more or less of an arena-styled game. You can 'Explore' and people can challenge you on the streets for money but otherwise, no.

2) Yes, there is. Each Manifold has a class of element. Red Manifolds are capable of handling fire more than other. Same priciple applies for the other colors (blue, green, white). Except for Phantasmal Manifolds. Figure out what those do.

3) Yes, if I get help with the linking aspects.

4) Yes, they are called Necross. If you were one of a specific color, your ability to handle the corresponding element drastically increases but the other element capacities decrease to 0. And no, you can only wear one.

5) Yes, there is a higher chance of your opponent absorbing your Manifold's energy. In that case when your Manifold is absorbed, it's game over.

6) As soon as the TEST001 (Title) program is ready.

7) As soon as the TEST004 (Walking and Talking) program is ready.

Remember to post the code--We can help optimize. It's what we're here for.

My only problem with that is the people who would want to be in the credits for their two cents.

Oh yeah, I changed the fighting aspects a bit.
Now, you attack hand-to-hand or using Elements.

Really? I never really care--it's fun to optimize, so...

I... don't get your reply, threefingeredguy.
"Choice. The problem is choice."
"Quite correct. Strange; that was quicker than the others."
"Others?"

"In your case, this is the sixth version of the Matrix."
"Sixth version? Then, either no one told me or no one knew."

I am wondering though: compiling BASIC into an app is fine, but why not learn asm and make a game that responds twice as fast or more?
If you need simple help with that then I can help you.

Cause it's complicated to learn and program in it.
Anyway, getting back to the subject.
The title screen is up for grabs so, look in Pixal Art for more details.

Hmmm, I might try something out. Are there any symbols or picture snipets you want in your title screen?
