[8xu files] what is their structure?

Post by King Harold »

I've noticed a few things about the 8xu structure:
the short lines like :020000020000FC
have their page number in them here: :020000020000FC
the long lines (code) have a number in front of them followed by some code followed by a closing byte

This shows how little I know about it..

What is known about those 8xu files? Should it not be on wikiTI?

Hey Jim_e I am just wondering. You seem to be really good at studying file types and how undocumented hardware works. So here are my questions.

You made Wabbitsign but how did you figure out the structure of a .8xp and .8xk file and stuff and figure out how to write files like that?

Secondly how do you go about finding out how undocumented hardware works?

Intel hex doesn't tell us everything though..
what about that weird header thing?

the structure of a 8xp file is not so strange though.. if you have a look at a few of them you'll see the pattern

edit: gotta love hexplorer!

The tilp boys documented most of the file format.

Mess with it and see what happens.

*worships yet again*
I might get to messing about with undocumented things now that my exams are over - no need to worry about the calc behaving oddly now :P

Yeah but see then I wonder how TILP boys found out about. Did they just mess around with it?? This is what I find odd about TI because they document nothing. At least Alias documented on the structure of .3DS files and stuff.
