I remember reading about Photosynth a while back - it's a nifty idea where they take a series of photographs and combine them into a 3D space - but didn't realise you could actually try it until today.

You'll need IE7/6 (unsurprisingly, as it's ActiveX-reliant) to use it. It's seriously impressive stuff - I can't wait to make my own collections.

I also read something on tihs a while back, had no idea it would be this impressive, thats alotta pidgeons also .

Maybe i will actually start using my camera now .

(I also like the 'Dial up: Not recommended' ).

I don't like it.

I allready found a bug, but hey its microsoft..
(if you do certain things the 3D will completely mess up, well the parallax messes up, try to move back and forth a few times and then look around from the same position)

but i certainly like the idea

It's a bit disappointing that you only see one picture at a time with a lot of dots representing the rest of the scene... Would be much cooler if is would reasseble the bigger picture from the photos in a 3D scene.

Anyway, I didn't really get a chance to take a good look yet; it doesn't really impress over remote desktop

You know, they do state that it is a beta, and that it might have bugs. If you don't like to see bugs, don't use betas.

I thought it was a really neat program. And, as to displaying the entire scene instead of just dots of light, think about how much bandwidth that would take. Load times would increase by a huge amount, quite possibly to the amount where it would be unusable. I thought the 3d array of dots of light looked nice.

the wording on the website made it sound like it ran in the browser. then again, with my short attention span, I didn't do much investigating on the site, so don't listen to me.
