Tr1p1ea, I was porting Jetpack but then lost interest. I'm using the clipped sprite routine to port Stick Soldiers, but right now I'm taking a break. I figure I might as well share what useful things I've created.

oh it was easy, they are based off of Contra 83+'s dude (for the general shape) and the acual "moves" I looked at the acual N game and just practiced a bit, though I might change the jumping to be more "ninja" like

So, with 4x4 sprites, would it be possible to show n-game levels without using scrolling?

Edit
well, it won't quite work, at least for the 83/4 series calcs. It would require less scrolling though. Is 4x4 enough to make all of the enemies recognizable?

Yeah, easily, granted, they'd feel a bit confined, but that's okay, I was messing around with my own N levels today, using axcho's N engine

Great job! Now we just need to learn asm :)

@stickmanofdoom: You should keep up that jetpack game for calc. I love that game ;)

I still think 8x8 sprites would look nice though. I've got an idea as to how to do it, but I'm not sure it'll work.

I haven't done ASM in a long time. It'll take awhile before I can start making an 83+ version of it. I don't know if I even have the time. Even for a 68k port. Sorry :(
