Would you like me to send you a video of what loading the JRE does on a computer so I can prove that you're just an anal-retentive troll that has yet to verify any good use for java?AndySoft wrote:Just because you have had bad experience with it (I'd bet on PEBKAC), doesn't mean that it sucks overall.DarkAuron wrote:JRE kills computers, 'nuff said.

I have to agree with DarkAuron; the JRE is utterly horrific on Windows.
When I used it with Linux, it loaded/ran instantly, the compiler worked perfectly and so on. On Windows, it takes an age to load, taking an unholy quantity of CPU time and memory to do so. I have no idea how they managed to get it so right on Linux and so wrong on Windows. :\

Hmm, it runs just fine on my Windows computers, but I agree that it can be an ass. Especially the whole concept of "classpath" confuses people as if it were rocket science Besides, it's not that brilliant a language anyway.benryves wrote:I have no idea how they managed to get it so right on Linux and so wrong on Windows. :\

I have never had any problems with Java on any windows boxes, and I've dealt with it on several dozen.
If you can make a video of you installing windows xp pro sp2, installing all windows updates, instaalling JRE 1.5, and then having issues with it doing nothing else, then I'll beleive you. Until then, I insist on it being a PEBKAC.

Andy: Unfortunately my digital camera can only record up to 2 minutes of video, and windows updates? Yeah.. I'm on dialup. Send me a camcorder and I'll do it. Or I could use my friend's. I'd seriously do this just to prove you wrong. And apparently you think it's a PEBKAC even though you seem to be the only one without a problem. Troll

No one I know, other than you, has had any problems with it. Especially people at school since the core courses are in Java anymore, if you can't figure it out (and there's nothing TO figuring it out), you phail at cs.DarkAuron wrote:Andy: Unfortunately my digital camera can only record up to 2 minutes of video, and windows updates?
