Title Screen hmm?
How bout something kinda like this

How bout, instead of just drawn on flames, you erase that part and put in a flame particle generator instead? And making the 'Press 2nd' flash would be cool too.

If you really want to go all-out (and don't mind the size), you could import the original Smash/Melee images into GStudio and do a greyscale effect. That sort of thing gets done on 89 games but hardly ever for the Z80 models for some reason. A picture of the original N64 box would be awesome.

Yes, grayscale is good :).

Tadaa!!! A betterized one! 4 color greyscale now. If you just use grayscale on the title screen, it won't slow down the actual game.

awsome! but i might just use the words cuz i already have a cool idea for some of the title screen. Here it goes:

Mario comes from the right punching, then kirby jumps up and stops, samus rolls on to the left (in a ball) and pops up, then link comes down with his downward slash , and pikachu ends it with his tunderbolt? how bout it. it will take some space and time, but it will look awesome, and there arent to many good animted intros.

i have been working with flash some into animation right now... :D

what do you guys think?

That's one awesome title. I like the way the word "Smash" stands out now.

How bout there is a combination of the two. I can move the big SMASH up and then you would have more room for the people coming in...Can Fox be in there too? :) Tell me what moves I need to draw.

EDIT: Btw, I can send you the .bmp of the above if you want. The greyscale looks much nicer when in exact 16 colors.

Yays screenie! I hope that's just vti and calc capture that make it laggy though :O And see? there's enough room there to put fox in the character selection! :) Seems pretty good so far. Does the screen scroll, or is that the entire level there? Needs animation!
==> goes to work on fox sprites

Yeah, the character sprites really need some animation.

That mario sprite from the splash screen looks exactly like the one from Mario Land 2. How'd you ever find that one? (the web?)
