First grai scale, now SOUND!!!!!
I am happy to say I have a working version of my latest SE only creation.
MIDI SOUND!!
Yes you read correctly, actual tones playing from you calculator IN STEREO. I know what your thinking, Calcmod. Doesn't hold candle in comparison even though I am using practically the same format. So what makes this so great,......It runs from the interrupts. Translation, IN GAME SOUND.
There is one problem though, support for this will obviously be low, because
A: Few people own 83+SE, 84+ or 84+SE
2: Few people own 2.5mm -> 3.5mm plug converter
With that aside I would like to present the demo. The song playing came from Paul Marks calcmod, it's Starfox. The program is nothing more than a nice little mouse demo.
I suggest the size converter and you PC speakers. Headphones are not as loud and have noise. oh and the song doesn't loop, so for safe I suggest quiting when it sounds done.
Thank you.
You may now ROCK ON!

You know what, this would be perfect a directors cut
As far as volume control goes, I don't think it can implemented with the method I have now. Different duty cycles, you mean the pitch right? Well if you do, to put in your own frequencys you would have to know how the format works which shouldn't be to hard. More Channels? I was thinking less, I didn't want to add stereo but due to my lack of song making ablities I needed to use the starfox song. At the moment I'm using all 3 timers. So if I ever want greyscale and sound, I would need to drop to mono.
Getting this to work on the 83+ would be near impossible. There are way to many interrupts going on and i'd think that it would be a drain on the speed. Not to mention I can't set the frequencies on the 83+s.
What I am doing is having interrupts occur at double the frequency of the notes they are playing, then I invert the status of line at every interrupt. So if I want to play A4, then I would have interrupts occuring 880. Plus whatevers on the other channel, and then I have the timer that changes the note running at a frequency of 8192hz. So on average there are probably 9000 interrupts occuring a second. That 15mhz comes in handy right about now.
If i really did want to fuse this with my greyscale project, i'd have to change my method some, but in any case the conversion of the SE into a gamboy is close at hand, teachers every where won't know what hit them. MUAHAHAHA!!!:twisted:
