He said that he maintained the altitude for about half a minute ... I dont think he is claiming that he can fly or anything. They just seem like some crazy guys messing around. He claimed to be the first one to try it ... i dont think they knew what would happen.

I can believe that he propelled himself with no problem. I just doubt he will be able to fly with what he has there. Pushing himself is forward, sure.

Yeah, I'm inclided to beleive he was maybe being pushed forward at high speed--but "leveling off?" He wouldn't be able to find a stable position, especially with the thrust coming from his feet. All those control surfaces on airplanes aren't there for lookie-loos.
My diet consists of nails, code-stealers, and HP fans.
