ASCIICASTER

Post by benryves »

I get bored very often, so decided to dabble a bit more in some Win32 programming. Three or so hours of coding later, and here is the result: http://www.benryves.com/bin/ASCIICASTER.exe

Cursor keys to move, space to open doors and esc to exit. Enjoy!

Well, it is ASCII... :)
No, this will not be a game. It's purely a demo as to what can be done with a simple text-only console program.

Ever try to play a video with libcaca? :) I have a windows player with caca support around here somewhere... Cool indeed. Though aalib is lighter on the processor, heh.

There is a ASCII raycaster on ticalc.org but the text on calc with low resolution make it look crappy, wait I'm dling ben ones for the comp right now

EDIT: Wow cool stuff you have here, at first it reminded me wolfeinstein 3D at lower resolution :)

Its difficult to see far away hallways, and other objects. I do like the wolf 3D base, it gives something to know what everything the way it is supposed to look! Really nice work. 8)

Probably just to show how nice it can look in straight ASCII (is that right ASCII). Before I saw the ASCII flames I didn't know you could do that in color...

Yeah al little hard on the eyes, but still really cool!!
