Wow, great work! I really like the sword hitting the blocks. Once I saw this It was remembering me Zelda II for the nintendo, but with Metroid like hatches.

However, if you are going to use my code in this game don't forget to give me some credits and acknowledgement in your readme.txt  .

I'll give you a nickle to tickle my pickle... or implement single pxl character scrolling! The background doesn't need to dynamically scroll, but if the character smooth scrolled that would be tight.

is the charactor sprite better?

Nah, I liked the old sprite better. Single pixel scrolling would be far too slow, I tried out a Metroid-ish game with smooth scrolling and it's much too slow. Maybe on an SE.

The character look like the jerk in the Blues brother movie back in the '80s, but I like the walking a bit. Maybe you could make a variation of the old sprite with walking. Also Smoothscrolling would be far too slow. Even 8 pixels scrolling would be too slow. However you could do some kind of TVF-like scrolling

(HOPEFULLY I might have time to test xLIB 0.3 soon, but I cannot promise anything)

That last screenshot that you posted kalan_vod looks similar to the game that Brady Mayes is working on. In fact, the graphics are identical. The guy is the same, the wall blocks are the same, and even the portals or whatever you want to call them are the same. Did you just copy them, or did you just magically come up with the same graphics? If you copied them, you should give credit where credit is due.
