ya, I saw that deal via kotaku, but it's rather unlikely any of us will actually be able to get it.

I've decided I'm definitely getting one, just have to wait for my next paycheck, or after the xmas/birthday cash is flowing in. :)

I couldn't get one. We only get about 8000 Wii's for the netherlands. I pre-orderd mine 3 months ago at a store, but they decided to sell all Wii's over the internet without letting me know. I tried yesterday everywhere, but all stores were either jammed with pre-orders or already sold-out. Bad luck. Maybe I get one saturday when i'm in germany, but I don't count on it. If not, I'll propably have to wait till the 2nd shipment, which comes somewhere next week

I think those people are getting a bit too much into it. That or they are trying to get free repair to stuff that was broken by some other means :).

Sucks bad kv83 :(.

Well, it is mostly about the fact that the little string that holds the remote to your wrist in case you drop it breaks while they do something like wii sports. This ends up in a flying projectile that breaks whatever is in its way.

I wouldn't say that it's "retarded" as such. It's quite a cool input device, but whether cool is the same as efficient or useful is yet to be seen.
My gripe with Nintendo is much the same as my gripe with iPod shuffle - repackaging old ideas and promoting them as new and revolutionary. The only thing that is "revolutionary" is enforcing the use of a quirky controller; Nintendo was using motion-sensing input devices back in 1989.
