Google is your friend :D
I know most if you already know this, but I just found out how you can use google instead of a peer-to-peer network.
If we want to search for files in google, we don't want any web pages, luckily almost all files include "index of" in their path name, so you use intitle:"index.of" (the dot represents a spacing character like <space>, <underscore> or <dot>)
To narrow down the search results you can specify the extensions you are looking for with "(ext1|ext2|...)"
And as a final touch, if any webpages slip through a "-html -htm -asp -php -jsp" will squash them
All you have to add now is the thing you want to search for.
Example:
intitle:"index.of" (mp3|wma) American.Idiot -html -htm -asp -php -jsp Never thought it was that simple
[offtopic] WTF happend to the [url] tag? ...[/offtopic]
As you can see, this allows one to search for copyrighted content easily, especially music, since a lot of people have their music collection online
But if you want you can find software, games and videos (for the last one, you're be better of with a movie forum...)
Of course this brings up the question how legal google is... So far I've only used it to download 'illegal' material
Btw, I found out about it while browsing youtube videos

Google is a supercreepy gigantic information logging information collector. They are collecting so much information about everyone that it's extremely scary. They know everyone's secrets.
It's inevitable that some day Google will turn to the Dark Side.

You know your hexadecimal output routine is broken when it displays the character 'G'.
Inevitable... yes...
Intel used to be the dark side (or was it IBM?) and Microsoft was good. Things change. Our perception of what the dark side is changes, as well as the agendas of companies and governments. Google is the light side for the moment, and for me that's good enough. The moment they turn dark I'll oppose them though, smite them down. That is, I think, the delicate balance we have to work with. Using one against another to keep them all in check.
Nevertheless, none of them will get my secrets though

Ah, yes... good point
Well, that wasn't really a secret anyway, otherwise I would've secured it properly

The only thing you leave is your ip all over the place...kalan_vod wrote:Or a more important question "Can I get caught as easily?"
It seems this would be the next best thing outside of torrenting, as you can link to a server off of someone else's music collection.
Hmmm, disabling the google bot to stay away from your site is easy, but yeah, who does not want to be indexed by google?Dwedit wrote:Google is a supercreepy gigantic information logging information collector. Duh, but I was wondering what was wrong with the url, but I guess my words weren't clearly on that... (or however you say that ...)

I new in the area of proxies (I found browser based proxies) but I'm looking for a program that's not dependable of your browser (because that won't help much in games)
Btw, I use Avast! antivirus and it caught most virusses even before I could download them
