I know CIII and DCS integrated virtually all xLIB functions however i still regret not finishing 1.0 because the real advantage it has over the others is speed. It implements a lot of important things that xLIB (and others) never did ... looking back i have no idea why.

Here is a smoothscrolling tilemap test i found:

Scroll by 2px @ 6MHz

Scroll by 1px @ 6MHz

Scroll by 1px @ 15MHz

Yes, that is a BASIC program calling xLIB functions, the same as before.

Smoothscrolling wasnt even possible in the old xLIB, and even if it was it would have been at a VERY low fps. 1.0 is about 15-20 times faster as an estimate.

That said, all there is in 1.0 is the tilemapper, sprite and getkey + other functions to speed up stuff.

Oh wow, that looks great! I know you have a lot of other things you are working on here and there, but do you think you'll release an updated X-lib?

*Edit*Also, what are those screen shots from? Just some random demo? They sprites look pretty nice. ^^

i *may* release, but it wont really be an updated xLIB, it will be a *new* xLIB since ALL of the internals have been changed (none of the functions are the same).

The sprites are from my BASIC RPG which i was making as a demo for xLIB.

I am hoping to get a barebones release out in a few months.

xLIB 2? Yes please! Thanks for letting me know the source of those sprites. I wasn't sure if I had seen them before. The remind me of the many variations of Zelda sprites I've seen over the years. They also evoke a sense of nostalgia an make me think of the old Corbin screens I managed to stumble upon. :D

Wow, this looks great! It's exciting to see hybrid basic stuff still get put out there!
